About OneToAnything

OneToAnything is a collection of free web tools for making random choices, generating random results, and helping people decide. The idea is simple: if you need to pick, shuffle, roll, spin, divide, or generate something, there should be a fast, fair tool for it here.

How the randomness works

Every tool on the site uses the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), the cryptographically secure random number generator built into modern browsers. It is far less predictable than Math.random(), the shortcut many websites use.

Turning random bits into a fair choice takes care, too. A common shortcut, taking a random number modulo the number of options, makes some outcomes slightly more likely than others. OneToAnything uses rejection sampling, which discards the few values that would cause that bias. Lists are shuffled with the Fisher–Yates algorithm, which makes every possible order equally likely.

Everything runs in your browser

The tools are plain web pages. When you spin a wheel or generate a password, the work happens on your own device, and your input isn’t sent to us. Some tools remember your last list or settings in your browser’s local storage so they’re ready next time. You can clear that at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser. The privacy policy has the details.

What we’re building

The site starts with a focused set of tools and grows from there, adding new pickers, generators, classroom tools, and game utilities as people need them. Every tool should load fast, work well on a phone, and do its job without getting in the way.
