Wheel Spinner

Type your options, spin the wheel, and let chance pick the winner.

Click Spin, click the wheel, or press the space bar.

One entry per line, up to 500. Your list is saved in this browser.

How to use the wheel spinner

  1. Type or paste your entries in the box, one per line. The wheel updates as you type.
  2. Click Spin the wheel, click the wheel itself, or press the space bar.
  3. When the wheel stops, the entry under the pointer at the top wins. Turn on Remove the winner before the next spin to draw without repeats.
  4. Use Copy share link to send the same wheel to someone else, or Full screen to show it on a projector.

Is the wheel fair?

Yes. The winner is chosen before the animation starts, using your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator, and every entry has the same chance no matter where it sits on the wheel or how long the list is. The spin you see is then animated to land on that entry, at a random spot within its slice. Spin length and sound are just for show and don’t change the odds.

Ideas for using the wheel

  • Pick a winner for a giveaway, raffle, or classroom prize.
  • Choose who goes first, who presents next, or whose turn it is to do the dishes.
  • Pick this sprint’s retro facilitator or note-taker in front of the whole team.
  • Settle “Where should we eat?” by putting the restaurants on the wheel. The starter list is a dinner wheel to show how it works.
  • Make a chore wheel, a workout wheel, or a truth-or-dare wheel for game night.

Making some options more likely

Every line on the wheel is one equal slice. To give an option better odds, add it more than once: entering “Pizza” twice gives it two slices. If you’d rather set odds with numbers, the Decision Maker lets you give each option a weight.

Frequently asked questions

How many entries can the wheel hold?

Up to 500. Labels get smaller as you add entries, and above 200 entries the wheel shows colored slices without text, but every entry still has an equal chance.

Will my entries be saved?

Yes, in your browser. The wheel remembers your list on the same device and browser, and nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

How does the share link work?

The link contains your entries after the # symbol, so the person who opens it sees the same wheel. That part of a link isn’t sent to the server, but anyone you give the link to can see the entries.

Can I remove a name after it wins?

Yes. Press Remove from wheel under the result, or turn on Remove the winner before the next spin so winners drop off automatically. That’s ideal for drawing several prizes.

Can I turn off the sound?

Yes. Press Sound on to switch the ticks and fanfare off. Your choice is remembered across the site.

Can I put my whole team on the wheel?

Yes. Type your team’s names and press Save as my team. Next time, Load my team fills them in here and in every other team tool. It’s a quick way to pick a retro facilitator or demo driver.
