How to decide what to eat
- Choose the meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack, or dessert.
- Pick Cook at home or Order or eat out, and turn off any cuisines you’re not in the mood for.
- Press Pick for me. If it doesn’t sound good, press Not feeling it and that dish won’t come up again.
- Can’t agree as a group? Add a few picks to your shortlist and press Spin the shortlist on a wheel to settle it.
Why picking dinner is so hard
When you’re tired and hungry, every option feels about the same, and the conversation goes in circles: “I don’t mind, what do you want?” A random pick breaks the tie. It also has a useful side effect: if the picker lands on tacos and you feel a little disappointed, now you know what you actually wanted.
Ways to use the food picker
- Weeknight dinner. Choose Cook at home and dinner to get ideas you can make tonight.
- Takeout night. Choose Order or eat out and let the picker choose the cuisine.
- Breakfast in a rut? Choose breakfast and try something new this weekend, from chilaquiles to shakshuka.
- Office lunch. Share your screen and let the team veto until something sticks.
- Meal planning. Add a week of ideas to your shortlist and copy the list into your grocery app.
Frequently asked questions
How many dishes are there?
Nearly 200, from 13 cuisines, including breakfast favorites, takeout classics, weeknight dinners, snacks, and desserts. More than 90 are vegetarian.
Does it show restaurants near me?
No. It picks a dish, not a restaurant, and it never asks for your location. Once you know you want pad thai, finding a place that makes it is the easy part.
What does Not feeling it do?
It vetoes the current dish for this visit, so it won’t come up again, and picks something else that matches your choices.
Is it good for couples and families?
Yes. Each person can veto one or two picks, or build a shortlist together and let the wheel make the final call so nobody has to.
Are the vegetarian picks really vegetarian?
Dishes are marked vegetarian only when they’re usually made without meat or fish. Recipes vary, so check if it matters to you.
