How to play charades with the generator
- Choose the categories you want, from easy actions and animals to tricky ones like “brain freeze.”
- For a casual game, press Next word and act it out. No talking allowed!
- For a competition, choose Timed team game, name the teams, and set the round length. Press Got it! for each correct guess and Skip to pass.
Quick charades rules
- One player acts out the word without speaking or pointing at objects in the room.
- Teammates shout out guesses until someone gets it or time runs out.
- Classic signals help: hold up fingers for the number of words, tug your ear for “sounds like,” and pinch your fingers together for a small word.
The categories
- Actions and Animals are great for kids and warm-up rounds.
- Jobs, Sports & hobbies, and Around the house take a bit more creativity.
- Tricky ones like “jet lag” and “folding a fitted sheet” are where the best laughs happen.
Running a team game
In Timed team game mode, teams take turns. The countdown starts when the round begins, every Got it! scores a point, and a chime sounds when time’s up. The scoreboard keeps track, so the host doesn’t have to. It’s an easy, no-prep activity for team socials and holiday parties.

Are the words family-friendly?
Yes. All 240 prompts are suitable for kids, classrooms, and work events.
How do we play over a video call?
The actor should be the only one who sees the word, so don’t share the screen. Have the actor open this page on their own phone or computer and act on camera while the team guesses.
Will words repeat?
Not until every word in your chosen categories has come up. Then the deck is reshuffled.
Can I add my own words?
Not in this tool yet. To act out your own list, put it on the wheel spinner and spin for each turn.
