How to use the random date generator

  2. Set how many dates you need and choose a format.
  3. Turn on Weekdays only to skip Saturdays and Sundays, then press Generate dates.

Uses for random dates

  • Test data. Fill spreadsheets, databases, and forms with realistic dates, in ISO format if your software needs it.
  • Scheduling. Pick a random weekday for a team lunch, a spot check, or an audit.
  • Games and trivia. Generate a date and guess what day of the week it falls on.
  • Writing prompts. Set a story on a random day in history.

How it works

Every day in the range has the same chance of being picked. Dates are calculated as whole calendar days, so time zones and daylight saving time can never shift a result to the wrong day.

Frequently asked questions

Are the start and end dates included?

Yes. A range from January 1 to December 31 can return either of those days.

What date range can I use?

Any range between the years 1000 and 9999.

Can I avoid weekends?

Yes. Turn on Weekdays only and Saturdays and Sundays are skipped. Holidays aren’t excluded, since they vary by country and employer.

Which formats are available?

Month, day, and year (October 1, 2026), the same with the weekday, the US numeric format (10/01/2026), and ISO 8601 (2026-10-01), which sorts correctly as text in spreadsheets and databases.
