How to play Halloween bingo

  1. Choose how many cards to make, one per player, then press Make cards and Print cards.
  2. Hand out the cards along with candy corn, pumpkin seeds, or small stickers to use as markers.
  3. Call out Halloween words one at a time. Want the computer to call them? Paste the same list into the Bingo Caller and choose words mode.
  4. The first player to mark five in a row, across, down, or diagonally, shouts “Boo!” and wins.

A Halloween party game that works for every age

Bingo is one of the easiest party games to run for a whole class: everyone plays at once, nobody is out, and the rules take ten seconds to explain. Halloween bingo swaps the numbers for pictures-in-words like Jack-o’-lantern, Haunted house, and Bobbing for apples, so even early readers can play with a little help.

Ideas for your Halloween bingo game

  • Use edible markers. Candy corn, pumpkin seeds, or cereal make great markers, and they double as prizes.
  • Play for different patterns. After a few rounds of five in a row, try four corners, an X, or a full card blackout.
  • Make it a costume game. Add words for the costumes you expect to see, then mark them off during the costume parade.
  • Small prizes, lots of winners. Stickers, pencils, or glow sticks keep everyone excited round after round.

Printing at home? The print layout leaves out the buttons and page clutter and keeps each card in one piece.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Halloween bingo OK for young kids?

Yes. The words are spooky but friendly: pumpkins, black cats, costumes, and candy, with nothing gory. Read through the list and remove anything your group would rather skip.

Can I add my own Halloween words?

Yes. Edit the list before you make the cards, one word or phrase per line. Add your class’s costume themes or inside jokes.

How many cards can I make?

Up to 100, and every card is different. With the 5×5 size and a free space, the list needs at least 24 words. This one has more than 50, so cards vary a lot.

How do I call the words?

Read them from the list in any order and keep track of what you’ve called, or use the Bingo Caller in words mode to draw them at random and show each one on screen.
